Michael Kennedy

Michael Kennedy is a Canadian-born, American lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience as a practicing attorney. In 2012, he founded Ingenuity Counsel to provide United States cross-border tax and legal services to Canadians. Mr. Kennedy is an attorney-at-law admitted in the States of California, Michigan, Florida & Arizona. He is also authorized as a Foreign Legal Consultant by the Law Society of Ontario to provide legal services in Ontario respecting the laws of the United States and provides legal advice only as it pertains to U.S. laws.
Mr. Kennedy uses his years of knowledge & experience to deliver top notch U.S. legal counsel to his clients. He understands the cross-border nature of doing business and the effects of owning real estate in the U.S. Mr. Kennedy is a frequent presenter at legal, tax and estate seminars in Canada and the U.S. for numerous industry & community organizations.
Mr. Kennedy is a graduate of Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts (J.D.), Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC (LL.M. in Tax) and the University of Windsor (B. Comm.). Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, he lives in St. Clair Beach, Ontario with his son, Easton, and their dog, Miami (“Mya”). He sits on the Board of Directors for Lakeview Montessori School and is a past President of the Windsor Estate Planning Council and past Director of the Town of Tecumseh BIA. Mr. Kennedy is a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoys baseball, golfing, skiing, and traveling.
Jack Quimby
Experienced lawyer, Personal service.
While attending law school Jack Quimby started his legal career as a law clerk for Ingenuity Counsel, learning the tools needed to excel in corporate, estates, and United States immigration matters. Today, Mr. Quimby is an attorney, and he is authorized as a foreign legal consultant by the Law Society of Ontario.
Mr. Quimby’s work is focused on United States immigration and corporate matters for businesses and individuals. He also works closely with Micheal Kennedy on corporate transactions and estate planning and administration matters.
Mr. Quimby graduated with distinction from the University of Windsor with a degree in political science with bilingual specialization as a part of the flagship class of the program. Thereafter, he attended the University of Windsor Law School and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he obtained his Canadian and American Juris Doctors in 2020, graduating magna cum laude. In his free time, Mr. Quimby enjoys searching for board games to add to his collection, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Giorgina Benvenuto
Giorgina Benvenuto joined Ingenuity Counsel in May 2024, bringing a fresh perspective and strong foundation in customer service. She earned her diploma in Executive Office Administration from St. Clair College, where she demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to her career. Giorgina is an enthusiastic team player who is dedicated to learning and growing in the office environment. She is most interested in creative design, interpersonal communication, and working with Microsoft Office.
Being a mother has been vital in her journey to becoming the person she is today. She hopes to be a role model for her son, and to show him that hard work and commitment to growth will set you up for success. Giorgina enjoys being active, spending time with family, and appreciating nature.
Jessica Popescu
Jessica Popescu joined Ingenuity Counsel in November 2024. She is a dedicated and driven member of our team who is always ready to contribute and grow. Jessica is adept at streamlining document creation, managing digital and physical files, and working with Microsoft Office.
Jessica graduated With Distinction from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology). She then went onto earn a Diploma in Executive Office Administration from St. Clair College, where she balanced academics and extracurricular commitments. During her time at St. Clair College, Jessica was a member of the Executive Board as Secretary for Enactus and the President of the Office Administration Executive Club. Jessica is a self-identified cat lady, who also enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time with friends and family
