Michael Kennedy is a Canadian-born, American lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience as a practicing attorney. In 2012, he founded Ingenuity Counsel to provide United States cross-border tax and legal services to Canadians. Mr. Kennedy is an attorney-at-law admitted in the States of California, Michigan, Florida & Arizona. He is also authorized as a Foreign Legal Consultant by the Law Society of Ontario to provide legal services in Ontario respecting the laws of the United States and provides legal advice only as it pertains to U.S. laws. 

Mr. Kennedy uses his years of knowledge & experience to deliver top notch U.S. legal counsel to his clients. He understands the cross-border nature of doing business and the effects of owning real estate in the U.S. Mr. Kennedy is a frequent presenter at legal, tax and estate seminars in Canada and the U.S. for numerous industry & community organizations. 

Mr. Kennedy is a graduate of Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts (J.D.), Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC (LL.M. in Tax) and the University of Windsor (B. Comm.). Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, he lives in St. Clair Beach, Ontario with his son, Easton, and their dog, Miami (“Mya”). He sits on the Board of Directors for Lakeview Montessori School and is a past President of the Windsor Estate Planning Council and past Director of the Town of Tecumseh BIA. Mr. Kennedy is a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoys baseball, golfing, skiing, and traveling.
