Michael Kennedy

Michael Kennedy is a Canadian-born American lawyer with nearly 20 years experience as a practicing attorney. In 2012, he founded Ingenuity Counsel to provide United States cross-border tax and legal services to Canadians.  Mr. Kennedy is an attorney-at-law admitted in the States of California, Michigan & Florida. He is also authorized as a Foreign Legal Consultant by the Law Society of Ontario to provide legal services in Ontario respecting the laws of the United States and provides legal advice only as it pertains to U.S. laws.


Mr. Kennedy uses his years of knowledge & experience to deliver top notch U.S. legal counsel to his clients. He understands the cross-border nature of doing business in the U.S. and the effects of owning real estate south of the border. Mr Kennedy is a frequent presenter at legal, tax and estate seminars in Canada and the US and for numerous industry & community organizations.


Mr. Kennedy is a graduate of Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts (J.D.), Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC (LL.M. in Tax) and the University of Windsor (B. Comm.). Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Michael lives in St. Clair Beach with his son Easton and their dog, Miami (“Mya”). He sits on the Board of Directors for Lakeview Montessori School and is a past President of the Windsor Estate Planning Council and past Director of the Town of Tecumseh BIA. Mr. Kennedy enjoys golfing in the summer and skiing in the winter and traveling with his son.  

Jack Quimby

Experienced lawyer,  Personal service.

Jack Quimby is an attorney-at-law admitted in the State of Michigan (2021) and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario (2022). Jack began his career in law as a summer associate for Michael Kennedy in 2019, and has been a valuable Ingenuity Counsel team member ever since. Jack is meticulous in learning the skills needed to excel in the cross border legal world of corporate, estates, and immigration. Today, Jack focuses on U.S. immigration matters for Canadian businesses and individuals, but also works closely with Michael Kennedy on corporate transactions and estate matters.


Jack is a graduate of the University of Windsor (Honours Political Science with French Specialization, with distinction), the University of Windsor Law School (JD), and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (JD, magna cum laude). In his free time, Jack enjoys playing euchre, golf, and spending time with his family and friends. He has also been known to rock the mic at karaoke, including a brilliant rendition of Rock Lobster by the B-52’s.
